The two mode names and three-hour estimate come from player reports on the festival demo build.
IRON NEST has a separate free demo on Steam. The demo uses AppID 4300500, while the full game uses AppID 2950790. That distinction matters because the demo, the public playtest, and the released game can run different builds.
The official demo page was visible on August 22, 2026. Its availability after that date depends on the download button shown by Steam.
What the demo contains
Players describe two demo modes called Chill and Challenge. Both use the same central routine as the full game. You read reports, work on the tactical map, calculate a shot, load the turret, set the guns, and fire.
Public player reports put the demo at roughly three hours or more. This is a playtime estimate from the Steam Next Fest period, not a fixed length from the developer. Learning the stations slowly or replaying Challenge can extend it.

The full game has also received five announced post-launch builds through Build 1622. Advice written for the festival demo may describe an older interface or balance state.
The demo and playtest are separate
The demo has its own store page and AppID. A public playtest or historical internal test build belongs to another access channel. Check AppID 4300500 when you want the demo.
Demo save or unlock transfer has not been confirmed. Do not plan on carrying progress into the full game unless the developer adds a clear statement.
Download the demo safely
Use the official Steam demo page. If Steam no longer shows a download button, a third-party mirror does not become an official replacement.
